Blogging survey with live statistics

I came across an excellent blogging survey, with live statistics. There are plenty of good stats and graphs.

Here are some highlights for you:

  • 49% started blogging recently (27% in 2006 and 22% in 2005)
  • 28% are blogging every day, or, even, several times a day.
  • 88% use WordPress (8% use WordPress.com, the other 80% use a stand-alone installation of WordPress).
  • 70% use freely available themes for their blogs.
  • 72% specified “I like it” as their primary blogging motivation.
  • Only 19% are members of some blogging network, but 72% of these believe that network helped them in one way or another.

Have you seen anything surprising in those numbers? What? And why?

Some interesting stats you’ve got here, but IMO the percentage for people who blog everyday should be less

    Hi Timur,

    Thanks for stopping by.

Well, I am not sure about the daily bloggers. On one hand, people around me - family, friends, and collegues - blog rarely. Most frequent posters among them write a couple of times a week.

But on the other hand there are all these other bloggers which I have in my RSS aggregator. Most of them right daily.

So, I guess, this very much depends on the particular group of bloggers. Those who responded to the survey are those who blog often.

Well, you do have a point here :-) It all depends on the group of bloggers

    2 Timur,
The statistics is the science how to make different decisions being based on the same statistical results, so don’t try to mess with statistics ;)
Comparing RSS I’ve got in Google Reader and the pourcentage of “daily bloggers” - it’s try +/- 3%
