New blog idea : Eating blog

One of the most frequent problems that bloggers come about is writer’s block. You can easily avoid this problem completely by choosing an active topic, which you participate in daily, and that offers great variety of directions. One such topic is food.

Egg and break

Have often do you eat? What do you eat? What do you like to eat? Did you cook that meal? Or, maybe, you ate it at a restaurant? Or did you order delivery? There is just so much to talk about when it comes to food - every one of us (or most of us anyway) eat every day. Most do several times a day.

There are plenty of blogs about food already, covering everything from dieting to cooking. There are blogs where people document every food they ate. There are photoblogs with pictures. Each of these blogs is unique, even though the topic is the same. There are plenty of people to share your ideas with.

You can also make it a private project, or a group project, sharing blog space with your family or friends, or even total strangers, but those who have similar tastes (sushi anyone?). Cooking, dieting, and city food highlights (restaurants, cafes, tavernas) can be introduced on your blog too, and, if successful, separated into their own blogs later.

Together! No more?

Looking back at all together postings and feedback they generated, I am thinking of dropping the series. There were very few posts, comments and trackbacks. There are a few possible reasons for this:

  1. The audience of Cyprus Blog Network is still too small for any group efforts.
  2. The audience of Cyprus Blog Network mostly consists of readers, rather writers.
  3. The choice of topics for Together! series was awful, boring, and uninteresting.
  4. Something else

Without feedback I can’t judge all by myself which reasons are true and which aren’t. So, I’ll leave it up to you. Please leave a comment or trackback. Do you at all care about Together!? Do you want to participate? What stops you from participating? How do you think it can be improved?

Without you, this is not a group effort…

More about WordPress plugins

WordPress is one of the best blogging tools. It’s fast, small, and flexible, with a whole lot of plugins and themes available. If you want to read more about interesting and useful plugins, as well as about people who develop them, then watch for the upcoming series at Lorelle’s blog. She is planning to write 30 posts on the subject during the month of February. Lorelle is a famous blogger on all things WordPress and a great writer too, so the series sound very promising. Subscribe to her RSS feed and stay tuned. In the meantime, browse through some of her older posts - you won’t regret.

Posting code of ethics

I’ve just saw this code of ethics link at the top of Tyme White’s blog. It struck me as a great idea.

These days it’s hard to know what is OK and what is not. Everybody has his own version. How can we make sure that the author of the blog shares the ethical base with his or her readers? How can readers know that author understands them properly?

Simple and elegant solution to one of many misunderstanding problems. Just state what you think is good, what is bad, what you will and will not do in your blog, and make a permanent link to that post from the main menu of your weblog. Whenever your visitors have a doubt, they can check it out and, if need be, question or ask for clarifications of your behaviour.

Are there any other bloggers who do something similar? Is there a better way?
