Linkify bookmarklet

Linkify bookmarklet is truly a wonderful thing. An instant happiness even.

If you are a blogger, or often comment on blogs, or just write text with links to other web pages, you should get yourself a Linkify bookmarklet. It makes inserting links a three-click process. You just select the text that you want to make into a link, click on the bookmarklet, which opens Google search results for the selected text in a frame on the right-side of your browser window, and then you just selct the appropriate result by clicking on “Create link”. That’s it.

A Day in the Life of a Blogger

Blogging is a popular activity these days. And a lot of people are thinking about making their living with blogging. How hard can that be? You just write a few posts a day, get some money from sponsors and advertising that runs in the sidebar, and enjoy the rest of the day.

Well, it’s not all just like that. There are writer blocks, researches and fact checking, spellchecking and editing, meetings and interviews, browser crashes, network slowdowns, comment SPAM, lack of physical activity, tonnes of email, tonnes of RSS feeds, technical progress to keep up with, and much more.

It is possible though. There are a quite a few bloggers who make money blogging. Darren Rowse of ProBlogger.net is one of them. He’s sharing his knowledge, expertise and experience on the site. And here is a short video, which shows (speed up) one day of his life. Exciting, isn’t it? Oh, and here is another quick video with advice from Loren Feldman of 1938media on how to become an A-List blogger.

Does it sounds like your dream job?

Firefox goodies

While the number of people who use the web daily grows … well, daily … bloggers are the among the heavy web users. We need to go through tonnes of other blogs, copy and paste links and quotes, bookmarks and search, make notes, and do lots of other stuff that most people just don’t need. Most bloggers that I know, use a Firefox browser with a number of extensions installed. Extensions, that help them be more productive - work faster and more efficient.

Lifehack.org recently featured to articles that covered just that - Firefox extensions and scripts that boost productivity. Check the “Top 10 Firefox Extensions to Improve your Productivity” first. And then, when you have Greasemonkey plugin installed, proceed to “Top 10 Greasemonkey scripts to improve your productivity“.

Even if you have been using Firefox for a few years already, I bet you’ll still find something new to try and play with in those articles.

Copyright Law Tips

Daily Blog Tips features a post titled “Copyright Law: 12 Do’s and Dont’s“. Check it out for a quick and simple overview of what you should and should not do in regards to the copyright.

On the DON’Ts part I particularly like these two:

Don’t assume that if you credit the author there is no copyright infringement

and

Don’t copy material just because it does not show a copyright message

There are simple explanations to each point. This is something every blogger should know.
