Why join?

If you ended up on this page, there are probably a number of questions in your head about why you should or shouldn’t join Cyprus Blog Network.  Gladly, there are already plenty resources online, which describe the benefits and downsides of joining a blog network.  All we have to do now, is present you with a quick summary, with specific examples applicable to Cyprus Blog Network.

One of the best answers to the “why should or shouldn’t I?” question that we came across, was provided by a famous blogger Darren Rowse.  He wrote two articles for his ProBlogger blog.

The first article is called “Why Should you Join a Blog Network?“.  Darren lists the following points (read the article for descriptions of each):

  1. Relationships
  2. Traffic
  3. Expertise
  4. Administration
  5. Revenue
  6. SEO
  7. Prestige
  8. Learning

All of these are applicable to Cyprus Blog Network.
The second article is called “Why You Shouldn’t Join a Blog Network“.  Let’s look at the issues that Darren raises and see how they apply to Cyprus Blog Network.

  1. Revenue Split.  As CBN member you’ll be splitting your blog’s revenue 50/50 with Cyprus Blog Network.  We are planning to change the percentage split eventually, so that CBN members receive more than 50%, but for the time being it’s divided equally between CBN member and Cyprus Blog Network.
  2. Ownership/Rights.  CBN member retains ownership and full control of all its content.  If you created something, then it’s yours.  As simple as that.
  3. Reputation.  Being a part of blogosphere, Cyprus Blog Network is fully aware of how hard it is to earn reputation, and how easy it is to lose it.  If you are notice any issues with our vision or behaviour, let’s talk it over in the forums.  Or use the contact form to let us know.
  4. Loss of control.  Giving away some control over your blog is a part of being in the blog network.  Cyprus Blog Network attempts to minimize what you have to give away and maximize what you get back.  We don’t ask for too much, and we are even flexible with that.  If you don’t feel good about anything, let’s talk it over.
  5. Risk.  As already said above, what is yours is yours.  No matter what happens, you will always be given all your content back (either fully up-to-date or from the latest backup).  Cyprus Blog Network will also send you all your data upon request, no questions asked (apart from those needed to verify your identity).
  6. Legalities and Responsibilities.  Cyprus Blog Network believes in good conduct and common sense.

If you are still in doubts, need more information, or want to ask a question, please, feel free to use our forums and contact form.  If you’ve made up your mind, either join Cyprus Blog Network, or let us know why you decided not to.
